Should we purchase well ahead flying tickets from Cairns to Sydney, in February?

Cairns will be no fun at this time of year ...hot , wet & always humid ! My advice would be to leave Cairns till another time & go to the Gold Coast instead...book flights ahead so that you know where you are going & when.
