Any experience people with float rods??

im looking to buy my first float rod, i have been fishing ever since i was 6 years old so its not like im new to fishing, almost 18 now and i want to change from my spinning rod that is 10 feet long to a float rod becuz of the flexibility. So i would really like some insight onto what i should be looking for in a good long lasting float rod? also i would like to know some good companys that make durable float rods. Most importantly, i would really appreciate if someone can explain the technical terms of float rods. For example, a person is offering me Streamside IM8 13' 2pcs with SIC guides and sliding ring for 100$ suppose to be in excellent condition, is that a good deal or what? thnx all
