Do you believe Jerry Manuel will be fired this season? If so, when?
I think it's kind of funny that Mets people thought he was a ''special'' kind of manager. He's really like any manager, with some resemblences to Willie Randolph. I mean, he was his bench coach since 2005, so it makes sense. The decision to leave Sean Green, who had a 5.91 ERA going into the game, couldn't find the strike zone last night, against John Baker, with Feliciano, who was warm in the bullpen and been very good lately, with Stokes too, who hasn't given up an earned run in double digit IP's this season. Than, today, he uses Omir Santos to pinch hit for Ramon Castro. Castro has been struggling lately, but was 2-4 with a game tying RBI in the 5th IP today. He talks about ''rewarding'' players, yet he put in a career minor leaguer over him, risking not having another catcher in extra innings, or an extra pinch hitter for the pitcher's spot. With all due respect to Jerry Manuel, he's kind of stupid. I'm not saying the other NL East Manuel is known for his ''brains'' either, but his player's do a better job, especially at the end of games, to save him. I say Jerry makes it as long as Willie, into mid-June, with an identically .500 type record, before he gets the axe. This time though, I want a new manager, from outside the organization. Not Sandy Alomar. I'd love to see Bobby Valentine come back. After a ''collapse'' in the last week of '98, he pulled the Mets together on a 163rd game 97 win '99 season, and a WS appearance in '00.
